What we cook is an expression of who we are and where we come from. Food is one thing that we all have in common and it plays such a central role in every culture, globally. Sarasvathy retrieves culture back into the form that is alive. She is so much inspired by the richness, textures and various colours which blends into food and gives a prodigious vision to depict on canvas.

A Samosa is a fried or baked pastry with a savoury filling such as potato, onions, spices, peas, meat or lentils and served along with a freshly ground relish made with coriander and tamarind called Chutney. The Samosa probably travelled to India along ancient trade routes from Central Asia and have been around for about a 1000 years now. Other historical accounts also refer to Sanbusak, Sanbusaq or even Sanbusaj were eaten by travelling merchants. So Samosa was an existing indigenous product perhaps enriched in its stuffing to cater to royal courts. She brings these historic culinary rich prospects over to canvas and also paying a tribute to the ancient cultural notion, as her small attempt.
