A Samosa is a fried or baked pastry with a savoury filling such as potato, onions, spices, peas, meat or lentils and served along with a freshly ground relish made with coriander and tamarind called Chutney.

The Samosa probably travelled to India along ancient trade routes from Central Asia and have been around for about a 1000 years now. Other historical accounts also refer to Sanbusak, Sanbusaq or even Sanbusaj were eaten by travelling merchants. So Samosa was an existing indigenous product perhaps enriched in its stuffing to cater to royal courts.
